Well known listed Italian artist Giovanni Camprio, (1915-1999), was known for his beautiful oil and acrylic seascape and Mediterranean scenes. The artist was born in 1915 in Rome, Italy and as a child moved to Naples where he developed a great love for the Naples Harbor and the scenery of the Southern Mediterranean. Much of his early adolescence was spent painting scenery on the Isle of Capri. Camprio, while still quite young, left for Paris where he began to study in the Academie Carriere and the Ecole des Beaux Arts. Here he developed a propensity for realist effectiveness. His use of the palette knife in his works is distinctive of his style, as is his color palette that includes bright pops of color.
