Please Inquire for Location
Originally purchased in October 1967, we acquired the set from the original owner who placed the order in only the 2nd year of production. Original receipt included with purchase. This table was custom ordered with the 54″ green marble top.
Warren Platner was an architect who collaborated with some of the mid-century greats, but it is his collection of furniture for Knoll for which he is best remembered. Introduced in 1966, the Platner Collection is an icon of modern furniture. Platner personally formulated the production techniques for the complicated designs with each chair requiring over a thousand welds and more than one hundred cylindrical steel rods.
The table and chairs never left its original dining room since being placed there fifty years ago, and therefore is in wonderful condition.
The Platner Collection of furniture is defined by the use of metal rods that are shaped to form the base of the pieces. In this table the base is nickel and has a silver tone. As stated above, the table top is green marble, Italian in origin, making it rarer and desirable.
