Here is an older set of Danish Modern dining chairs designed by Peter Hvidt. They are teak and have aged to a deep, dark, rich patina. At first glance these appear to be traditional Danish chairs with Danish rope seats but a closer look reveals that simple touches here and there elevate this set from a rustic design to a sophisticated riff on a rustic chair.
First, the backrest is a very pleasing shape – an elongated semi oval. The other striking feature of these chairs is the strut that is placed on an angle on each side, making the profile very dynamic. Furthermore, the arms on the armchairs have very graceful & inviting lines. A truly lovely set with old style craftsmanship that will last another sixty years.
