Truly one of the most beautiful tables we’ve ever had! This Danish Modern teak table attributed to Johannes Andersen, for Uldem Møbelfabrik, dates to the mid- to late- ’50s and has the craftsmanship and attention to detail to prove it. To begin with, the grain on the top of the table is matched, and when the two leaves are in, there is an exciting explosion of the teak grain right in the middle.
The apron has a gentle curve in the center which is echoed by the curved joinery at the top of each leg. The legs are tapered and splayed and, with the plane of the corner, form an exciting and gorgeous angle. Functionally, the table’s two leaves are stored inside so no need to take up space elsewhere with them.
When fully extended with both leaves the table is 98.25″ long and can seat 8-10. Otherwise it is 80.5″ with one leaf or 62.75″ when the leaves are not being used. As the old saying goes, “they don’t make ’em like this any longer.”
